WM - until about 6 months ago my next door was a rental prior to (over) development and the neighbour - Russ - was a roof plumber - ok bloke but a bit non middle class if you get my drift.

We were having a beer  one day and he started telling me how he had given up the chuff.
Then he said he used to have a huge cone at 6.30 am every morning before driving off to work to work on rooves.

I used to smoke every day as a student and at work.  In those days though THC levels where, I believe,  a fraction of what they are now.

Re: Legalize it

sammy - I see that trotted out here in the press but I call bullshit.
No one was measuring it then and from personal experience I 'd say it was much much stronger then. There was hash blocks. No one has heard of hash blocks now.

Not that I'd know........

Re: Legalize it

sammy - the only stuff I've seen is from law enforcement - customs, police etc - why would they lie or exaggerate !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Their street value statements are just plucked from their arse.

I've not seen any reliable, scientific, studies comparing strength now and then.

Maybe just plain old grass strength has improved due to selective breeding - I could accept that - but that ignores what people were smoking back then - here it was Buddha Sticks, Thai Sticks, Queensland Top Heads and blocks of hash etc. A small amount of those blocks of hash could make you lie flat on the floor all night.

Re: Legalize it

I've heard of hash blocks. Or 'block hash' as it's generally known.

It's the lowest of the low. It's boiled up resin and stems mixed with crap like vinyl and cough syrup and stock cubes and whatever else is lying around. It's the rubbish in it that makes it a more intense high.

THC levels have been readily measured in labs since the 1960's and academic papers have used changing THC levels as evidence so it is legitimate evidence.

Higher THC along with higher yields are only the result of selective breeding of plants and better knowledge of plant nutrient requirements and propagation techniques. No voodoo about it.

I'd just like to make clear, no I'm not a drug dealer and I don't smoke it. I just did related studies once upon a time.

I did smoke it when I was a student. Stopped when I was about 21 for no real reason.

Re: Legalize it

Liam - stuff in UK is much different to what we had/have here.

From what I've seen and heard in UK you'd be better off smoking lawn clippings to what was generally available.

In the good old days - a hash block here was creme de la creme - theres also lots and lots and lots of home grown stuff - due to climate/ attitude  etc. In many states its only a misdemeanor for possession, you'd be unlucky to even get it confiscated in most places unless you are a real dick to the police. Getting sprung having a quiet chuff by yourself would just get a kindly word to perhaps be more discreet from your average Mr Plod

Re: Legalize it

Plants have been bred to have higher thc to low canaboid ratios. I dont partake but I would recommend hemp protein powder... very nice.

Re: Legalize it

I think that's the right attitude. I'd like to see it like that in the UK.

Legalisation isn't really an option in my mind until they better understand Cannabis Psychosis which is a very real risk for some people who smoke. If it is found out to be preventable then regulation or legalisation must surely be the best option.

I find it interesting that block hash was well regarded in Oz. In theory it should be good but to many things get chucked in and by the end it's crap. A more honest attitude over there obviously.  Maybe the time or the culture,  I dunno, maybe block hash was the same in the UK in the past.

We do have good homegrown in the UK. Climate is a huge issue though and grow houses are needed. A green house won't even cut it.

Then you're back into the thorny issue of exploited workers.

Many grow houses are operated in the UK by foreign gangs who  have a lacky who tends the crop and takes the fall if he's raided. Tragic really.

Re: Legalize it

Hehe. Sorry chief.

I know in the states there was huge pressure from the Timber industry to keep it illegal because hemp is a potential cheap source of pulp for paper.

I wonder who else has a vested interest?
