I feel like I live in an opium den. Asian girl in my bed....I'm wearing silk pajamas...the shirt is completely unbuttoned...my eyes are as big as saucers (for a squinty-eyed lad anyway). Now puffing on a Parliament and quaffing some screw top Pinot Noir I bought at the train station while posting on a site called Film Noir Buff. This is living.
Oprah smoked in 1982. What a phony.

It's not the strength of ganja then v now that is the big issue, although that is part of the story. Ganja since time has been a natural plant (and I'm not implying that that necessarily makes it a good idea for people to consume it) i.e. created by God/nature. The vast majority of herb around nowadays is along the lines of skunk etc - which was created by European scientists a few decades ago. It can be argued that using natural cannabis has negative consequences and should, perhaps, be avoided. However it is only since the advent of skunk that we have seen cannabis addiction and pyschosis, which are far more serious problems than those of the pre-skunk era.
Ironically, it is very doubtful if skunk would have ever become widespread, or even invented, if ganja were legal.

By ganja you mean the plant itself, the grass or weed, or what have you, I take it.
I first smoked in the late 60s and it was either this or resin sold under names like Lebanese, Red Leb, Person of Pakistani heritage Black. Then there were Thai sticks. which were flowering heads wrapped around a bit o bamboo.
In the 70s we grew our own using heated greenhouses and conservatories and sometimes 'grow lights'.
In the 80s somebody gave me some 'hash oil' which was a sticky dark brown liquid that you mixed with tobacco. Didn't like that.
Never had this skunk stuff. What is it? Last had some resin in around 1998. That seemed exactly like the stuff I'd always smoked.
Its the increased thc to canaboid levels.. canaboids make for a lighter high... thc is very heavy and is found in high amounts in skunk... it effects the dopamine levels in a much greater way... which then trigger the psychosis
Oh wait I've read it again...
He is right and THC is the main Cannibinoid in Cannabis but there are others.
THC is the main one. And levels will vary from plant to plant and variety to variety.
Maybe Bop you could expand by telling us which other Cannibinoids found in Cannabis you are referring to.
ffs - Just pass it man and don't bogart that joint.

You want psychoactive. You need to chase the dragon, man. Hey.
Yes. Buy strong stuff (read high THC) and don't abuse it.
Maybe Bop is confusing the Cannabinoid 'Cannibinol' with what he calls 'Canaboid'? Canaboid means nothing as far as I know.
Nah, they're just called Cannabinoid Receptors I think.
Looking at it now there are a few cannabinoids with the prefix 'Canna' which I have never heard of.
