I was having a wee think this morning about mutation and the nature of mutations in plants and animals.
Theoretically it is possible that in the first generation of Skunk, after the hybridisation of the 2 parent varieties of plant used to make the plant, a random mutation occured. This could have been a mutation which meant the smoking/grazing of the plant could now cause permanent psychological damage to the person or animal taking it into their bodies. From one generation of plants that could not possibily bring on Psychosis in a user to the next generation of plant, as complex as the chemistry of Cannabis Psychosis is, being a brain melter.
In that case Yuca what you initially said on the subject could, theoretically, be right.
But this would be a mutation like no other mutation ever seen in the history of the world.
It would be like a baby human being born tomorrow who could shoot lasers out of its eyeballs.
In reality it could never actually happen. But in theory, it may well have happened.
... but then it would be a random mutation and couldn't be causally linked to the actual hybridisation.
Someone who isn't me told me that in Australia, over the last 15 or so years, the potency of "weed" varied more from crop to crop, season to season and grower to grower than over time. They also told me that "weed" was not addictive like alcohol or cocaine where your body develops a physical dependency on it, but was a psychologically addictive substance that did not have significant extended withdrawal symptoms beyond some potential short term sleep difficulties. They started talking about how it was hard to draw such a simple link between "skunk" use and psychosis or mental illness, but by this point I was really losing interest and tuned out.
Many of my associates have suggested that this person is likely to be a drug abuser, so there is probably not a good deal of sense in anything he says.

There is very little doubt that sustained daily smoking of dope under the age of 16 or so is generally deleterious to brain development.
The psychosis link isn't straightforward although clearly in some individuals already predisposed it can act as a trigger.
For most moderate users its biggest danger is as an gateway to regular tobacco smoking.
Mostly for most people most times its hard to think of anything it is MORE dangerous than. Not sugar, not fats, not alcohol, not cigarettes.
Equivalent doses, circumstances , variables controlled for etc etc, of course.
Dope as a gateway to Tobacco smoking I think is a huge issue which is not spoken about seriously or spoken about enough.
My personal view is its a timewaster. Sometimes that's just right. For some people its a good sleep assister. Certainly enhances listening to music and participating in erotic activities. Proven good for people with cancer and chemo as pain relief, relaxation and very important appetite enhancer.
Oh , also proven as very very good to relieve symptoms of glaucoma.
I love Tabasco, never tried smoking it, but I've slopped it on many a thing with good results.
Tabasco is one addiction I freely admit.
I'll give you pervert. You'd probably sprinkle it on your dick...
All your doing by growing under lights with feeds is speeding up the natural time for the plant to flower. There are no seeds in the bud because the males will be removed when the plants begin to get 12 hours of light per day instead of 18, this makes the plant think its time to go into flower and produce seed. The females will start to produce hairs on its ga-lacs (don't think its spelt like that) and the male produces small sacks in the same place. Of course if you use clones all the plants will be female. There may still be a couple of seeds in the bud but these are very rare and won't grow.
Addiction isn't any greater with super weeds than it is with hash. It ain't smack after all. Weed is a better high which is why no fooker wants hash any more. If you think its too strong...put less in the skins.
This whole debate is a very emotive subject for me.
A 24 year old relation lives in an institution, sectioned under the mental health act.
He has been there for four years and as a family we had been to hell and back for the preceding years.
When is was too late we discovered he had been smoking skunk heavily since his mid teens.
He has been diagnosed with drug-induced psychosis and for want of a more politically correct description.
He is completely insane. A young life completely destroyed and it’s heartbreaking.
What makes you say that Dud, you big weirdo you?
I take massive amounts of morphine and am as happy as Larry all the live long day. Various prigs like to say how sad the situation is and just think of all I could have done instead...
Hand on heart, I wouldn't have done anything I don't do now.
The idea that for every waster there is an unbuilt cathedral or uncomposed symphony is just daft.
Maybe your relative cracks excellent jokes in the loony bin. Maybe that is his contribution to the world. Who knows?
I imagine he must be having a rotten time in the bin though and none of it can be easy on his family, including you. I hope he's getting some nice drugs - Why not? As a fellow incurable I wish him all the best.
All lives have value and a life steeped in drugs still counts. I was delighted to be told that the author of Black Beauty was a heroin addict for decades. She was lucky enough to get the good stuff from the doctor and happily went about writing her books and living life.
I'm very sorry to hear that AC.
I hope you know none of my talk on this thread was an attempt to downplay the seriousness of any drug related mental illness.
