Good stuff, Shooey.
Your shoo porn is unmatched.
+1
Thanks for the update. My Cleverley boots are prob my most comfortable shoes.
l had a crazy dream last night and a light bulb went on in my head about getting a beautiiful alligator wholecut in a certyain medium brown colour....it looked like perfection in my dream, but now l can't quite remember the colour. Then when l woke up this morning l had another lightbulb moment about ordering a navy alligator single monk. Truely though, l don't think l should be entertaining those ideas.
l've tried to find a reason to order a Russian Calf bespoke shoe, but truely, l don't think l can think of any reason to justify buying one. It a casual colour and a country colour, and l don't think l would want to pay such big bucks for something so casual looking. l would rather stick to Trickers for a country shoe and only go bespoke on something more dressy looking.
l think the black oxford captoe in glossy leather might be the next order. Note to myself "don't even think about ordering another alligator shoo buddy". Yes, ordering alligator is not a habit l want to get into - l would like to get into the habit, but l don't think it is such a clever idea.
Clevereley has now introduced a few antiqued leathers into their ranges (see the burgundy monk in the pictures above).

Chris (co-owner of the Double Monk store) was telling me that after l ordered my navy alligator wholecut, he decided to take the plunge on a horse bit loafer in navy alligator also. l nearly choked on my tongue when he told me because that shoe is going to look amazing in navy alligator. l was thinking about ordering a future horsebit loafer in alligator and now l am very tempted to one in navy like Chris'. Co-owner Nick ordered a loafer in Russian calf. l'll tell you fellas, we are all really pumped up about all of this....our biggest dreams are now a possibility. Thing is though...alligator is not the type of habit l want to get into, there is a few alligator shoes l wouldn't mind getting, but l better get strict on myself and start thinking about calf instead. Then again..wouldn't mind one more pair of alligator, or maybe a third pair tops , but after that i'll have to quit that habit me thinks.
It would be far too easy to develop an alligator addiction. Been really pumped up about alligator and looking at pics and thinking about it each night and all night long, and even dreamin' of alligator, but as l have said, i've gotta get strict. l've looked at so many pics of alligator shoes that they are coming out of my ears.

George Glasgow and last maker Teemu are coming to Melbourne next week for the fitting of the bespokes. A bunch of us blokes are very excited..almost sleepless nights. Will get our first look at the shoos. Will be revising my notes all week to make sure l get my finishing details right. This is going to be good...the pinacle of my shoo career. After the finishing touches are specialised, the adjustments to the size will be finalised, the sole will be stitched on, and the finishing polish will be done.
They will be ready in two to three months. Has felt like forever. Not only will l pick up the bespokes, it looks like l might get the Anthony Cleverley black captoe oxfords on the day too. It will be a great day...the best day ever! Picks of the 3/4 finished shoos will be posted here. Tell you what though, those A.C's are pumping me up something chronic.
It's the alligators I feel sorry for.
Especially navy alligators.
I bet the ol' gator spirit will forgive you when he senses how happy you are in your new shooz.

Shooey, I've been asked to go along for drinks on Friday at double monk. If you are not there I'll tell them you said it was OK to have your whisky.
I was talking to Carbone today and met one of his apprentices.

shooey - at a shoe shop last night drinking whiskey -we "accidentally" spilt some whiskey on a funny old pair of half made shoes in blue alligator skin - I guess it didn't matter 'cos whoever ordered them probably has more money than sense?????????
Hi fxh,
what time was the event, 5 - 6 wasn't it?
I am about to leave, but l am scared. Feel under pressure not to stuff it up today. I'll post some pics and do some commentary alittle later.
How are my big boys, they look good? Pumped up and can't wait until l see them, but l have knots in my tummy...scared shitless.
Not more money than sense, just common sense. Old Meister knows the score.
I have been thinking dumb thoughts lately....was thinking about ordering another alligator pair, but probably not such a hot idea with the fall of the aussie dollar predicted to fall to 80 cents to every U.S dollar. Might go the black oxford captoe for the next order in August. Even been tempted by a plain black single monk and a butterfly loafer. Definitely will get a black gusset brogue in the future....half brogue or wing tip?...not sure yet.
