I have enough shoes at the moment.
bish you sound like you have attained style nirvana .. and have no need for further material acquisition. I on the other hand want to buy some of these clunky French shoes which make you look like Frankenstein ... I think it was reading nick foulkes in the FT HTSI magazine going on about hunting clothing. I don't go hunting, I hate the outdoors in fact but I am intrigued by the idea of imitating rich French ponces from the 1920s.

what would you wear them with shooey? i'm not sure how any tailored clothing would work with them frankly but I like the shoe itself. this type of disjointed thinking has got me in trouble in the past as you tend to end up with things that may jar against each other.
ive picked up bits of mythology about the shoe and how it was popular among the Parisian elite in the 20s ... but not much available information, do you know any more about how it was worn and so on? while the yanks would create a backstory, buy an old brand and creating a certain image like Abercrombie or just plain create some mythology out of thin air think Ralph Lauren, the French don't bother selling anything .. in fact they seem not too bothered about customers period.

Chase is an awesome shoe. The last shape requires a larger size to keep them from being too bulbous, though. My 7E (roomy 8.5d US) was just too short & wide looking for me. In size 9.5e, they looked MUCH better
Bestetti gladiator style shoes. MTO could be a viable route to bespoke.
Or I will just use G&G bespoke. Will see how my current order turn out first.

To be honest, l haven't been able to think of hardly anything else but that butterfly loafer for the last few weeks. lt is completely awesome. lt would be worth giving up some Lobb rtw's to get that loafer. It would go great with nice bespoke navy trousers and a shirt. l am not normally a loafer person but l know this loafer would suit my style and l would love wearing it. l usually only wear loafers a few time per year, and only for loafing around the house and not going far from home, but l would wear this out and about for sure.
Foster bespoke gusset captoe in brown
Foster bespoke black captoe with brogue seam balmoral
Fosters didn't visit the US in the spring and I couldn't get to Chicago or New York this month. If they don't visit next spring I may have to go with Cleverley instead. I don't know which is better between the two but Fosters used to have a picture of a gusset shoe on their site I drooled over many times.
As I posted the other day, I've just purchased a pair of Foster's Henry Maxell Ranger RTW brogues, I am looking forward to receiving these. NJS put me onto Foster & Sons with his tale about Lord Lucan visiting this, his favourite shoe maker before fleeing the country.
