Aw -

Didn't publishers screw over Bruce Boyer as well?

Such a shame!

Re: Is Simon Crompton the new Francis Bown?

I can never access permanent style blog. Occasionally I can access a cached copy. I don't know why. Perhaps my IP is blocked why would it be? Dunno.

Anyway I spied an entry in cache claiming Italian cloth houses are vertically integrated down to owning sheep
first i've ever heard (herd?) Of it. Doesn't sound right to me at all. They'd have to own Australian merino studs. Never heard of it.

Re: Is Simon Crompton the new Francis Bown?

I do know a bit about Australian wool production and sales and about farm ownership. I've worked in shearing sheds in my youth and pressed wool bales as well as studied the wool industry history and current issues. Other then a few people, mainly Zegna, buying the most expensive bale of fine wool at Tasmanian auctions for publicity, there's no evidence of cloth houses doing anything other than buying wool. And after all, except for a small amount of UK wool a most all suiting is Australian merino.

Re: Is Simon Crompton the new Francis Bown?

Why would anyone want to pay for a bespoke leather jacket? They are so naff and 1980s.

Re: Is Simon Crompton the new Francis Bown?

For Crompie's jacket, he'd have done 'bettah' 'dahn' Camden Lock or Walthamstow market 'mite'!

Better still - an Irvin-made, sheepskin RAF flying-jacket:

http://www.flightstore.co.uk/pilot-supplies-c1/flight-jackets-c196/leather-flight-jackets-c198/irvin-raf-mens-leather-flying-jacket-p1162?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=irvin-raf-leather-flying-jacket-mens-size-50-size-mens-size-50-quot-size-mens-size-50-irvjackm50&utm_campaign=product+listing+ads#1389

Around 1\10th of the price too. Just ditch the pockets when ordering.

Re: Is Simon Crompton the new Francis Bown?

PS A fiend of mine just put up this question in Crompie's commentary box:-

''Are you paying cash or giving them PR advice for this as the cost seems high for a young family man. What does Mrs Crompton say about it if you are paying cash!''

It will be interesting to see whether he publishes it...

I like leather jackets, Especially 70's styled ones.

A long Leather trench coat has a certain style, but you'd struggle to wear it for obvious reasons.

Phwaaa ha ha ha - 'The Expert' on bespoke 'shuits' is now blagging for Horrids RTW or is it MTM - dunno - but - maybe - just maybe - pity should silence further comment.
