HartMarx?
I know there are Wall Street people out there and I guess this is tangentially related to clothes. What do people think about HartMarx as an investment? The last time I looked at it it (a few years ago), it was four and change and now it is pushing seven. I buy Hickey freeman suits and even bought a Hart Shaffner Marx suit this year (fused but a beautiful fabric). Is there a future for American clothing manufacturers? Is this a turnaround play? I've had some luck investing in turnaround companies selling in single didgets but all I really know is that I like the company's products. Is there a bright future for an American company that makes suits? any thoughts?

Just to follow up. Back in 03 it was selling for under 3. Did hit ten for a moment. now at 7. Just wondering if anyone is optimistic about one of america's oldest manufacturers of clothing?

Hard to know. I just don't see the general public wearing suits anymore. i did read their press release. They expect to be profitable for the year and they are concentrating on the upscale lines. They want to get out of selling to department stores and market the Hickey Freeman and HSF line. Oh, and perhaps inevitibly they are making a fair amount of women's clothing.
I did buy an HSF suit this year, fused but a really very nice fabric. a decent suit and I received many compliments from many women when I wore it.
Their theory seems to be they have to make fewer but better suits.
If you look at the charts they are a near double from a few years ago.
