Just went up the road to the post office... and its gone. Replaced by a shop offering 'business lighting solutions'.
Have you lost your post office?
Luckily the Acton PO is still open, but it's decor gives it the air of a Communist/Orwellian nightmare and those ad screens in the queuing bit scare the bejeezuz out of me.
I love how public services offer us a glimpse into a socialist post-apocalyptic world
Alas it's only the Royal Mail being sold. The Post Office has to serve another ten years in the hands of the Marxists.
You are not alone. Both post offices I used were closed and replaced by "shop-in-shop"-agencies. Were I grew up, the offices are gone, too.
I just wonder what they did with the officers? They can't fire them. Maybe they all are in a gigantic underground post office, somewhere under the alps, where they keep occupied with bureaucratic routines.
I wouldn't be surprised to lose mine. USPS is in sad shape.
I hate socialites. "Myeehhhh... I have so many friends... myeeehhhhh."
Was there last week, the line was long but I did get some Ray Charles stamps, so that was a bonus:

I wonder what will happen to Postman Pat and his privatised cat?
Retire early when they sell their 3 grands worth of shares
It has the bad smell of BR all over again.
... And all this non-Ivy rot is here on this unique Ivy forum for why exactly ?
Next we'll be having photos of Axel Rose here...
If you Mods who jumped in as 'saviours' of my forum aren't full of shit then I think you should be working harder for the Ivy cause. Forget any class, mod or other baggage you might have brought with you. TALK IVY.
Yrs,
JIM.
Dang Jim. Ornery tonight? I mean, I see your point and all.
More than anything else, I utilize the service of our great post office to acquire Ivy League Style Clothing. They probably get really sick of having to walk up my drive to deliver the 3/2 tweed jacket that won't fit in the box.
I just opened a new forum at eatbreatheshitivy.com
Anyone care to join me?
I was actually covertly spamming on behalf of Britain's rural communities.
Also it is an issue that greatly effects the distribution of ivy either from or to my house.
The courier companies can do it faster and better, other than collecting your pension what does the post office do these days?
The Dutch privatised their national post service awhile back - result is you get mail delivered once a week late on a Saturday afternoon. They employ dullards on the Dutch equivalent of zero hour contracts, but in any event, it's pretty much irrelevant these days, as most letter writing has been replaced by emails and when I get Ivy gear delivered from afar, it is always delivered by the privately owned and effective courier companies.
An ex-colleague of mine who had actually been a postman, but educated himself in later life, warned me that the post office was full of degenerates, ex-jail birds and alcoholics. A shame we are losing such an institution.
