Re: Inane Overdrive-Brave New World Edition, 2013 and Beyond

Always an ever obliging boy, I will say...

... Does he really look so bad ?

And also -  Is it even a 'Look' ?

There's nothing to be offended by here. And, maybe, also, nothing to be inspired by either.

I could walk past him happily without my world being 'rocked'.

He has clothes on, certainly... But is he 'dressed' ?

(So says the man sitting here in his bathrobe...)

I concur .. looks pleasantly forgettable .. which brings to mind a certain beau brummel's famous line of "to be truly elegant, one should not be noticed" .. so maybe this fashion blogger is onto something & really is an expert smile

I once saw a piece of graffiti which, slightly adapted, might read:

'Now that the world has Cromps, whatever happened to Chenners!'

Chenners looks so mild, sane and ordinary that one wonders why Mr Street ever picked on him at all.

Raw material ?   Clay to be moulded ?   The bad guy's instinct for a weakness to disgustingly exploit ?

Whatever, I'm very happy with him now. I've found his last 5 years very hard though... But a learning curve is a learning curve.  The boy is doing fine just now.

I do believe he is still unsuited to the 'Ivy' pose he's trying to work with... And I do kind of feel bad for him and yet at the same time good for myself that it all happened.

We were swapping emails just the other day, like we always have, and both of us are quite content in reality. The online Muppet show is just showbiz. I think that for both of us our major skill is self-promotion.

Just like Whistler and, to a regrettable extent, the inferior showman, Wilde.

?????????

(Neither were English, BTW)

Gawd Bless Chenners.

Compared with Crompie he's a Real I-Gent. The original I-Gent - O! for the powers of poesy and for the Muses to descend and enable one of us to declare a paean of praise to Chenners.

I am the expert sartorial gent, with no keeper.

Just in case there is someone on this site under the age of 80 who might want to start their own lucrative fashion blog, here's one way to do it:

1. Start blog with requisite pics of Astaire, Cary Grant, the Duke, and lots and lots of McQueen--the American one, in most cases.
2. Respond to all of the horrible companies that start sending you free shit by asking what you can do to get more swag.
3. Post pics of yourself wearing swag, as in the above post, referencing company.
4. "Publish" on your blog any piece of shit PR that the company sends you. This is now your job:

5. Repeat.

Yup - Adverts & advertorial content are what it's all about. A certain someone used to boast that he could 'write on any subject' - Well who can't?  To write well on a subject is the thing that counts.

Flat footed issue
http://www.askandyaboutclothes.com/forum/showthread.php?153048-Flat-footed-What-dress-shoe-brands-do-you-recommend

Q.   So I have a chance to get some vintage British bespoke shoes at a good price. Previously owned by a star in the entertainment industry over there. They are on the large size but I figure that is easier to work with than if shoes are too small. What do people think?

Also the soles are fairly hard (for walking in Old Europe) should I switch to rubber?

A.  Just send 'em to B Nelson. Size reduction is fairly straightforward. He does really great work and I am sure you will be pleased with the results.

^ I disagree. Those shoes are fine. It is just the way you walk that will cause unnecessary wear on the toes.

Get B Nelson to fit flush toe plates.

The answer to any shoo problem is "Send them to B. Nelson" harharhar
http://www.askandyaboutclothes.com/forum/showthread.php?155515-Boot-repairs-is-this-fixable&p=1466170#post1466170

Good old Shillchrist is pumping elastic-waisted corduroy surfer shorts and even more perplexing... flannel lined shorts.  Mercifully there is no photo of him in them.  Added hilarity in that he got their name wrong (Cubbies instead of, even worse, Chubbies).  If someone can quote for posterity before he fixes it, please do.
