You lot have well and truly derailed this thread but I don't mind discussing Brummell. By the way, there is an article in the July 2013 issue of History Today on the anniversary of the 'Who is your fat friend' gibe. What we generally miss is that Brummell was more than just an influence in dress: he achieved a moral ascendancy over the leaders of the nation and they sought him out in relation to many topics. Miss that and you miss the whole man.
Beau and Arrow. Remember them from the Cricklewood Empire in 1936? Storm clouds were gathering over Europe but we still came to enjoy their magnificent juggling skills.
Cricklewood is more like this these days

Plus ca change plus c'est la meme chose.
I don't think that he was disdainful or supercilious; otherwise he would not have made and kept so many friends. Here is a piece that I wrote about the 'fat friend' episode and Brummell's subsequent relationship with the Prince - including a sighting and a near encounter at Calais:

You would need a subscription to read it online or see it when you are passing through a library, if you are interested. I cannot open the whole link as I sold the piece to History Today.

l didn't see the thread where the Bishop blew up. Can anyone link it?
I like it when Bishop speaks his mind and flushes people's head down the toilet.
I'm with The Shooman.
I'd like to see exactly what will get a person banned from here.

I don't think one goat would do it. Maybe 3 goats and a particularly well endowed donkey.
