Re: The Bishop's Finger

No one thread, I don't think. It was just the endlessly repetitive crusade he'd set himself across many threads. Eventually the Mods stepped in. I certainly enjoyed bantering with him to both our detriment. I found it funny.

Re: The Bishop's Finger

Back off track to more interesting matters:

'I Am Dandy' - And not one of them is !

https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=i+am+dandy&newwindow=1&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=34xnUqD2K8a90QXF4IDgDg&ved=0CEgQsAQ&biw=1366&bih=651#facrc=_&imgdii=_&imgrc=3gpldj7_aGbs5M%3A%3BpjXb251FoElB4M%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.dandyism.net%252Fwp-content%252Fuploads%252F2013%252F09%252Fp250_MichaelArenella.jpg%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.dandyism.net%252F2013%252F09%252F25%252Fflagrantly-attired-a-review-of-callahan-adams-i-am-dandy%252F%3B888%3B1145

A collection of really sickly looking coves. Is this really what Dandyism has become ?

I do a certain amount of work with the students of Kingston University - Pro Bono stuff, mainly with the fashion students. In return I often get drunk. I was also painted by one of the Arty boys this year for what will become his degree show 'Dandy'. All the other male and female Dandies (Female Dandies!!!!) were the usual riot of twizzled facial hair, flowers and velvet (and you should have seen the men!)... My portrait has me in a White T shirt & old jeans siting in one of my wardrobes surrounded by a mass of clothes. I have a glass of red wine and a cigarette held in a normal fashion and a very square haircut. I am clean shaven. Also I was the biggest clothes nut of the lot of them. I was thrown into the mix to ask just what the hell a Dandy was.

I am most certainly not a Dandy. But I out-Dandied all the rest.

I miss the Bish, a valuable, knowledgeable, and witty contributor. Exactly the type of member we should be looking to keep in our jolly gang - not exclude.

Bring back the Bishop of Briggs!

Re: The Bishop's Finger

The Bishop of Limburger has been suspended too.

Spending too much church funds on his residence etc.

I know Jim can be irritating sometimes but does everyone really dislike him that much ?
Am I the only one with some love left in my heart for the Jimster ?

Let's discuss solipsism. The feeling that you are the centre of the universe and one guy here knows a lot about that. To be sure. To be sure.

Re: The Bishop's Finger

Remaining off-piste:

I believe The Dandy to still be alive, but only in about 1% of those who claim the name for themselves these days.

Only a PS - I maybe never knew either of my Grandmothers or attended a public school. Trying to personalise anything to do with me is a dead end. You'll never know which is true - The initial claim or the subsequent denial. My pleasure is in the attitudes that all of this reveals. XYZ hates me because I'm public school, but where does XYZ stand if I am, as I have also offered, Secondary Modern from Macclesfield ?

I'm either off to the pub now or the Ritz.

wink
