the cynical part of my personality would suspect 'anonymous' is also Don Compe', seems like too much of a lay up question to make sure the damage is done and promote your friends at the same time. you see, as any self respecting member of the Cosa Nostra would work out, there is a backer behind this particular move, I think we have evidence that as suspected the HK clothing mob was backing Don Compe' in this hit.

I suspect this display of power will lead to a raft of new posts on fresh 'commissions'. the shopkeepers were rearing their heads and revolt seemed in the air, public execution of a small time player will remind them who's boss in this town. I thought you were pleased with the result of the collaboration you did with him? How would you compare his ties with those made by Drakes?

I was, largely. The ties made for me were good and I heard good things from others. But then there has been inconsistency since.

Drake's is very different. Innovative in design and materials, yes, but without the same restless experimentation. It is a large, professional manufacturer, with necessarily tight quality control. It makes consistently good ties, and only changes to new designs - such as untipped over the past few years - slowly but surely.

maybe we have judged poor simon harshly in this matter, perhaps he is just following in the footsteps of celebrated men of fashion from the regency period. Very entertaining passage for your consideration, we are just witnessing the same behaviour playing out in a more muted fashion.

now he's getting G&H to make him a bespoke pea coat. I think he is now going on a quest to make bespoke casual wear  .. this is perhaps a great scheme to get guys who don't like tailored wear to somehow take an interest in handmade bespoke.

the problem isn't that people have an issue with bespoke, its that they have an issue with paying ~£3k for a coat.

what next for comps? bespoke tracksuits? bespoke t shirts? bespoke hoodies?

Well, don't ask me how I found this but comps may be in luck as there is someone already running a boutique bespoke operation specialising in willie warmers. That is if Taubey from G&H doesn't fancy going quite this far off the beaten path of bespoke. Wonder if we could get a petition going for compie to feature this as a future bespoke project?

I had to smile at this report from Croatia.

Knitting fan Radmila Kus is running up a fortune from the ultimate in luxury crotch-et work - made-to-measure bespoke willy-warmers.

Kus has revived a centuries old tradition in Croatia's remote Mrkopalj mountain region where wives knitted protectors to help their husbands cope with the area's freezing weather.

Kus explained: "Local men here wore these for centuries. In those days the clothing was not so good and people weren't rich enough to keep warm.

"Frostbite was a real problem and to avoid permanent damage these warmers came into use.

"Wives believed that keeping their man's private parts warm allowed him to remain fertile and increased their chance of having children," she explained.

two toned bespoke shoes aren't likely to be that appreciated in London either .. I'd imagine views would vary between curiosity to light mockery.

you see the odd footballer type in the papers wearing 'designer' versions .. you know the Dolce and Gabbana type pointy things, with jeans going into a nightclub, I'd imagine most just think this is just 'trendy' footballer chic and pass it off as something the rich & spoilt wear without much thought.
