Thanks, Woof. Can you get me a job at the Met? Something in the vice dept? Anything to do with busting low level street drug dealers or whores. Both would be perfect.
/\ 21 Jump Street for you GW.
Lacking an interest in youth subcultures beyond being curious about the forum's feelings about them, which I could have easily predicted, I can only say that I've not even bothered reading this thread before making this post... I am confident that I know your replies to this topic and so I don't really need to read about them.
Lots of very little egos shuffling themselves around like a pack of cards? Am I right?
So why not talk about the topic and not your silly little personality clashes ?
- If you can. Have a go.
The best posters on here talk about topics, the worse here just serially attack their fellow forum members...
.. Now, I'm no snob... I've peed in the Giant vibrator sink, in extremist, just like all the rest of you all have... But, even though this is not my forum... LEARN TO DEBATE !!!!
THIS IS A FORUM !!!!!
- Or rather it will be if you make it one. Up to you. How much do you really care about this space ?
- I cared enough about it to give it up to other, better people than me to run. I cast myself as a pariah to keep out of their way. I still contribute as I can... But increasingly it's to deal with crap from years ago brought up by misfits.
What's YOUR primary interest in being here ?
And you CAN be judged by your posts...
If it's 75% Jimmy and 25% Ivy then it does show you know.
Talk Ivy.
x
Nope, 75% Jimmy, 25% yoof cultures. No Ivy here, old boy, what?
And why do you have a chip on your shoulder about where I am pretending (maybe) to have gone to school ?
This is all NSWF.
Mods ?

Boys take it to the NSFW section please.
Anymore will be deleted.
You can delete the whole thread for me AC, load of anti bollox anyway.
No its not.
Good move.
I enjoyed what it highlighted.
You started a thread insulting the majority of posters, so inevitably people disagreed with you. (For example: I mentioned the fact that your mentality is that of an overgrown 80s teenage mod buying the latest Cavern merchandise.)
Some of the criticisms on this thread are based around grudges for previous events, but for most of us, we're just responding to your op.
If the egotistical fantasy you posted above applied to most of us on here, why do you have to resort to bullshit threads like this one to get any criticism (or more accurately disagreement) from us?
The saddest thing is here is a guy that openly admits to pretending to be a dickhead online for the last 8 years . Who else would do that other than an actual dickhead? Great work Jim, although I think the character may have been written for you

Glad you care.
... And also sad that you care.
.. But just what is it that you are caring about ?
Not a bad thread, this.
Much learned.
My own view on youth subcultures is that I can see a thread in certain people's lives for joining things and wanting to be things. Once a Mod, now an Ivyist, maybe... There is a certain mentality at work.
'Trad' is all about midddle aged men with the same mentality - They want to be 'Trads'. What's a 'Trad'? They don't know, but they want to be one.
It's all about labels and belonging and identity. Insecurity lies at the heart of it all. Question their chosen labels and they get very uncomfortable to the point where they can't even debate.
It's a commonplace of contemporary media culture that youth subcultures are wonderful. High time that was challenged. There is potentially a good debate in there... If you can get one. We've certainly not had one here.

People do get very touchy if you happen to question their subculture of choice as a youth. Especially if they feel that they have taken something from those glory days into their adult life. Not really an amazing trait in someone, but the media hyperbole only reinforces what these folks believe in. And in a lot of cases people tend to reinvent their own past on the back of learning things about their subculture 30/40 years after the event. They may have been in awe of Top Boys (for want of a better term )at the time, now looking back they tell everyone they were one. Its not uncommon.

Of course, being a mod means I've learnt a lot about clothes and music. All sorts of music. Its also true to say that my life is enriched by being part of a subculture. I travel to many parts of Europe for weekenders and club nights and have met some very cool people. I'm out every weekend either clubbing to, or DJ'ing cool records. Whats the alternative? Sitting down the local in drinking clothes? Talking about how odd it is that people have Bespoke clothes made to attend all night dances of 60s Motown & Stax like music. That does sound like fun. BORING hoho.
With all due respect, you don't have to be a mod to enjoy the above.
Topstitcher and a certain mentality culture. Oh please, someone delete the thread. Its fucking painful, what?
