Something about the tie and it's passing seems to mobilize people; there's journalistic fear and spectacularism afoot here. It's like people who predict the market will correct every day for years until it does and then they claim to have predicted it. Why anyone would care if we wear one, I have no idea. When I was a child, I used to be relieved not to wear a tie but when I became a man...

I work in one of those jobs where you have to wear a tie. I enjoy taking it off at the end of the day but I enjoy putting it on every morning. I think the tie allows for a bit of self expression in a wardrobe which is otherwise pretty well defined.

Why all the commotion over ties? I have yet to see a single article over whether one should wear a belt or leave the top button of their trousers unbuttoned. smile
