Cowboy boots. Wasn't a problem of quality, was a problem of culture. Just not the thing for me. Had a similar issue with patch madras shorts.
Some insipid Lacoste shirt that I purchased at full retail. Sub-par fabric, although the collar roll is surprisingly nice.

Once I bought three pairs of English shoes that were discounted down to like $99 a pair. They were a couple of sizes too narrow and I tried to make them work because I wanted to have nice shoes very badly. It was a very young, dumb thing to do and they caused a lot of foot pain and then were thrown out.
