Aside from my habitually waking up early on saturday mornings to catch Green Hornet reruns on Retroplex, this new show, MAD MEN (by Soprano's producer) gets me my wardrobe fix. It's also a very good show, judging by the ever important first episode. Click the link and then click the photo gallery for the slideshow. Thom Browne will probably want to check this show out.

shit, I missed this last nite, will def catch the rerun on sunday eve. I agree it LOOKS great, hopefully the storylines and characters capture my interest
The actual 60s show and my moniker, Get Smart, had some great outfits. Maxwell Smart was always well attired in nice fitting slim suits. Even Siegfried looked cool!
Amen.
Yeah, the Get Smart wardrobe was excellent, I watch it YouTube. Mad Men had a good, well-written first episode, but it seems odd that they'd put it on AMC. It has the sort of raw material that HBO was made for (duplicitous marriages, sexual harrassment, closeted homosexuality and office affairs) and instead is toned down a bit for a TV14 rating. The suits are great though, and even though i havent heard of any of these people (i don't watch much network tv) it was well acted.
Have you seen the new Band of Outsiders photos on their website yet? Awesome new stuff.
Not my thing. Too many skinny ties and skinny lapels. Nice haircuts though. Not a sideboard in sight
Who wears this '60s stuff nowadays, apart from the Trads? Cult uniform. Can we forget the '60s ever existed, please?
I prefer the wardrobes in BR and the Jeeves and Wooster show, which I dutifully watch on YouTube.
Do "Trads" wear 60's?
I missed that episode...
You picked some lovely English Trad there, Ad. -
"Creamy English charm", eh?
What's not to like?
Hip to what exactly?
Hip to be square? or too square to be hip? or so square that it makes a full circle on the hipster wheel of irony and becomes hip again?
Gotta hate that Miles Davis, narrow lapell sack suits and jazz all rolled into one!
The only thing that makes me choke is when Trads start talking about the "the last bastian" or "the clean life" which is really just nostalgia for the nonexistent.
Actually i'm confused as to whom the "They" refers--trads? or 60s clothing wearers? I'm assuming (for obvious reasons) that Get Smart is a fan of the early 60's suit. Who lacks the Look? Trads?
I watched the premier, loved it, and will be Tivoing it until it's cancelled.
Hey Tom!
I miss you when you go away.
Band of Outsiders is a clothing brand that retails at Barneys, Fred Segal, etc. Expensive stuff. shirts retail for about 175-250 USD. suits are 1,200-1,500. Well worth it if you can afford. everything is handmade in NY in this old Brooklyn warehouse with vintage fabrics. Their ties are fantastic and go for about $125. I don't work for these guys (though i would like to), my moniker and their brand are named for the same Jean Luc Godard film.
One caveat: the jackets tend to be shorter in length. One of those "modern touches"
speak of the devil

Thanks for that link Bando....I'd been jonesing on that jacket since it first came out but at full retail it's a bit much.....and now it's MINE MINE MINE!! haha
If you guy's have a chance, see the old "Route 66" show. Very worth watching. Great slim fit chinos, worsteds. And short-sleeved BD shirts. And Beatle-Booties I think.

The popcorn scene from Diner.
I've been enjoying your SF work lately. I think you made it onto the 'Awesome Post' thread too, either that or other people's feeble come backs to you were on the 'Inane' thread. It was good stuff from you anyway. Count me as a fan.
