I fear you've had so much praise heaped onto you for looking like that you'll never see how bad it looks, much the same as the Mods elsewhere on the net but in a different style. Yours is a more muted look but very unfashionable and really, truth be told, pretty dull. At least you seem to have an idea about fit.

Re: Inane Overdrive-Brave New World Edition, 2013 and Beyond

I'm just making light of what I perceive to be some of my own personal inanity.  Sometimes you need to step back and make a mockery of yourself.  It's healthy!

I can see where GW is coming from, which is where I think a lot of the past, present, and future Talk Ivy members come from, which is a mod background, which I think trains eyes to a bolder, cleaner, more Italian sensibility.  I was pretty perplexed at all the mod - ivy back and forth over there at TI, but it made more and more sense the longer I stuck around.  It seems a lot of TI posters arrived at Ivy through the mod thing.  GW's just a highly sophisticated and advanced mod that has kind of gone off the ivy thing more and more.  He used to post over there quite frequently - taking a whack at the rise of my pants, getting bent out of shape about the sleeve of my harrington, etc.  He's never really been keen on the Worried Man's style.  And that's fine.  I do really respect his opinion.  But I can attest to seeing a few of his posts that raised my eyebrows a little back when he posted more frequently over there.

And Goodyear, I'm not blinded by any praise.  That's not why I post.  I just have a look I'm going for and I go for it.  I admit, sometimes I look like shit.  Seriously.  That's also not the reason I play music either.  Accolades are nice, but you have to have some internal blue print that's immune to all input.  Something you want to achieve.  Otherwise, I'd be making pop music rather than playing to 12 people in a shitty bar all the time.  Obviously I just want to look like Ward Cleaver.  I'll need to start wearing pleated pants though.  I know the throwback thing can be really irksome to many.  But shit man, it's just what I like.  Plain and simple.  On a certain level I can appreciate the "fantasy" or delusions of the Fedora Lounge people or these old mod dudes.  I've even joked that I'm going to defect to Fedora Lounge.  The difference is that I too find most of the looks hideous and laughable.  They just miss so many damn marks.  Hence my enjoyment of your work here in the Inane thread.

And Charley, never had any interest in acting really.  I could quite easily get a job in movies, as a good friend of mine works in casting.  The one golden opportunity I passed up was being the drummer in Jame's Brown's backing band.  I could have nailed that part, being a drummer and all.

Re: Inane Overdrive-Brave New World Edition, 2013 and Beyond

... Always remember that Talk Ivy isn't a 'Mod' forum... Or a 'Trad' forum, come to that. 'Mods' were certainly actively recruited to add to the mix and also certain 'Trads' were flirted with too. But the forum was 'IVY' in intention. A forum about the totality and reality of a certain style of American menswear. Never limited to being about college boys or scooter boys.

All were welcome if their agenda was 'IVY'.  All other agendas used to get a kicking. Why not? Post IVY on Talk IVY or why be there ?

I'd like to see Talk Ivy  hardcore & focused on IVY once more. Never mind who's delicate little online feelings that might hurt.

And if that means only one post a day then GOOD.  Better one IVY post than a load of bilge from 'Mods' & 'Trads' ... Especially as I can't smell them apart...  wink

I guess the moral or lesson is to expect both praise and criticism when posting pictures online.

Hahaha!  Jesus. I shouldn't have listened to that at work.  People are wondering what I'm laughing at.
