H, my 47s are dead on a 12" rise.
I did buy the 125th anniversary ltd. ed. 501, they did which had the most fantastic fluffy nap. I'd love that finish but have only seen it on LVC 78 (?) 501s. Don't like that shape at all. I don't think I'd buy the rigid again, that twist (thanks cap'tin) kills it fot me. I guess it would be twice as annoying if it was both legs, so will just have to count my blessings.
The el cheapo Wranglers have about a 12" rise, and that's on the 29" waist. Broken twill with no twisting to speak of. Heavy ass denim to the tune of 14.75 ounces. For $25 USD, that's a lot of bang for the buck. I mean, they ain't perfect, but heck.

I know! I've been looking at the LVC's for five years before committing. Im quite happy with them and I really don't think $85 is too much money for a pair of really cool made in USA jeans.
Wait til you wash em, Jose!
The only thing that annoys me about the 13MWZ is the colour. The rigid colour is pretty nice as is the stonewashed look once they get broken in. But, the almost-neon, blueberry colour hen it's inbetween those two stages ain't so great. Restricts what ya wear, as only drab colours seem to suit it

What about Edwin, the Nashville model? A great high rise, a pretty straight leg with minimal taper, not skinny or baggy, decent raw denim, a deep indigo hue that will fade nicely, proper selvedge, not too dear...
Did they get a mention?

I missed it twice, it seems. Thanks, AB!
I like that 50s look, if that's what it is. I think they look great! Classic fit in my opinion. Will check out the Freddies and the Pike bros as well as Samurai and Tellason, at first opportunity.
I was always a Levi's loyal customer, but I like a higher rise!
^ hehe.
If you find the Tellason's that look good please let me know, totally underwhelmed by what I've seen so far (particularly at that price point).
Gotta ask my friend what's that model. And that they look good on him, don't mean they gonna fit me or you just as fine.
Different strokes, you know.
I used to stick with Levis as I like to try everything on, and I'm always careful about ordering sth I've never tried.
Fair point. For me I want the same kind of Levi's I used to wear when I was a kid. Those were made in the USA Levi's with rigid color fabrik, thick denim and selvage. I've always been a Levi's man. Sorry but I can't help it. Back when I was ten years old Wranglers and Lee's were always the second choice. All the surf kids wore Levi's, it's just the way it was.
I had been on the fence about the LVC's for five years. But then I finally asked myself:
'all things being equal, which jeans would I rather get?'
The wrangler's or the Levi's?
To me the Levi's just look and feel right, just like the ones I used to wear. I don't mind paying $85 for made in the USA Levi's jeans. But I don't have anything against the Wranglers, I have a pair and an enjoy them and I'm glad that WM and others are happy with them.
That said, I will keep an eye for LVC's when on sale as to me nothing can ever compare to made in the USA Levi's jeans. That's an entirely personal preference but I'm glad that Levi's offers a line of replicas of their vintage styles.

I also grew up on Levi's (505 red tabs), which, very unlike today, we were embarrassed to wear until washed/broken in and then eventually faded to death by the washer. But as Sidewinder said, 505/501 fit have been so altered to not really be the same product. 501 STF's seem to have escaped that so far (at least I can't tell), so I still wear them.
I am a recent Wranglers disciple (last 18 mos.) sort of by accident and have come to appreciate the toughness, look, heritage, cheapness, and the not-screwed-around-with fit. Like a light bulb going off when you "discover" something that's been around all along.

Nice. I actually really like that website too. It's so spartan and bland. The way they have the jean sizes listed as one 4 digit number is funny too.
For those in NYC - the Levi's LVC store in the Meat Packing District is having a big sale. Everything is 50% to 75% off. I highly rate the sixties striped T- Shirts. I think Goodyear and the Caltain have a couple of those and they look great. I got the blue/dark blue striped and the orange/yellow/black stripe and they feel really great. The Bedford trucker jacket is another boss item and of course the made in USA 1947's are the thing to get of they have it in your size.
PM if any of you want to know a good source for fairly priced Made in the USA Levi's. I don't want to spell it out here for the whole world to see.
I have no idea why you'd tamper with em then fella... they're hardly loose or skin tight to begin with....
