totally impractical classic choices

I was browsing along Jermyn street yesterday afternoon before meeting a friend and was looking at some of the window displays .. it occurred to me, why are corduroy trousers promoted as a good country/sports wear trouser? Made of cotton, they don't wick away moisture particularly well, wear on the seat alarmingly quickly, leaving a shiny patch on your arse and collect dirt/fluff/assorted shit along the channels in the material.. what is the logic?

Corduroy fabric goes through me like nails on a blackboard, and as you say, it wears out rather quick.

Corduroy and tweed, just sounds right. More of a country gentleman look than farm hand I feel.

HAHA.

I recall my parents owning a set of dark orange corduroy chairs in the '80s.

I've never had a pair of cords wear on the arse, wear between the legs yes, but all my pants fail there.

I like cord, especially needle cord in dark colours for jackets. Wore one last night as it 'appens.

It does pick up lint though.

As it goes I did see a pair of cords by Polo (I'll chew a bar of soap later, Cat) in the most fantastic green the other day. Really liked them but couldn't picture any thing in the wardrobe to wear with them.

Re: totally impractical classic choices

I have a bordeaux pair and am getting another pair in the same color with side tabs rather than belt loops for ultimate louchitude. I wear them with whatever. They are like jeans now, not fussy or effete, just pants. Mens pants are in a color burst the moment and claret/bordeaux is relatively tame.

I have a pair in bright orange like a Sloan Wanker. Was thinking about doing some purple ones but I've maxed my clothing allowance this year, fine style..... I also wanted a camel top coat that was full cut.
