Re: Whats hip?

Nope, not my style, but it seems that if you yearn to be hip he can point you in the right direction.  A Green alligator belt and black suede shoes...whatever.....

Re: Whats hip?

If one were to use your logic then not liking green Day-Glo alligator belts and black suede shoes automatically limits one to blue blazers, khakis and button downs, your logic would also have us believe that once someone has many versions of the same item, say, thirty belts then one should experiment infinitely no matter how questionable the taste of the item,  "Well since it is my 57th belt maybe now I will get one made out of hundred dollar bill$"

I referred you to GQ simply because you strenuously define yourself as hip, which if one is to judge by your most recent ensemble, hip is not the word that comes to mind.

Re: Whats hip?

I think that my posts make it abundantly clear what I think of the belt and shoes and if my inability to say so explicitly calls into question my manhood then, so be it.  In regards to posting photographs, I don't consider myself at all hip so it safe to say that you will be very disappointed.

Re: Whats hip?

^

Out last weekend with me old crew for our annual Christmas piss up and catch up.

I was shocked by the amount of young gun-slingers wearing tweed. Typically grey/black herringbone.

Quite a bit of what looked like flannel too, in various shades of grey.

Most jackets cut too short of course.

Re: Whats hip?

There was very little tweed and flannel action going on last night, infact, I was the only one. I only saw one jacket that was cut too short though, that was the one positive of the evening.

Mainly, it was people in their usual business suits with a very few stepping outside of this. The shirt action was particularly inert. There was the 25 years too late, obligatory extended "soul" band churning out the usual stuff and the buffet was a poor half-arsed attempt at cod-fusion for the multi-national organisation. We ended up home early, where I poured myself an extra large cognac and watched the remnants David Bowie evening on BBC 4.

^I meant trying to present crackers and cheese as fusion food. There was salmon, but no cod.

Re: Whats hip?

Put up the CHristmas tree (a big one so a lot of grabbing and lifting) today and to avoid the resin stains I wore my standard lumberjack plad red flannel shirt and cheap no name jeans (no fashionable tears, wear scuffs or discoloration). Was going to the club for a game of squash so threw on a black flannel sport coat with a black scarf, and wore an old pair of tassel loafers because I didn't want the hassle of untying shoes, tying tennis shoes X 2 in 1 hour. Hit the locker room and about 3 of the younger guys commented on the get up, asking where I got the jeans, the idea, etc. I don't know if these guys are hip or clueless, but they are all in their 20's, single and with money to burn. But they thought the get up was hip and I am more than a little mystified by it.
