^^
But, let's also consider that a credential is not a guarantee of an outcome. It simply indicates one is minimally qualified to enter the field.

Ongoing education is a possible indicator of performance. It means the candidate is curious about their field and is willing to pursue alternate points of view and/or practice.

Re: Morning coat

I think credentials are key in the Service industries.  Also in more formalized business settings (like investment banks, where you need degrees plus passing various professional exams).  This stuff, however, is not as important at all in entrepreneurial stuff.

Re: Morning coat

Your niavity has also been bothering me, Ed (at least I didn't mention your nativity). $8,500 AD is only $6,950 USD and appears to be just the starting price for a suit that is 50% handmade. Your continued indifference to the value of handwork and your scoffing at the vivisection of helpless suits leads me to doubt your prior claim that you have destroyed your machine made Borrelli wardrobe. Yet you seem reluctant to ascend to the Shooman's tailoring level despite your nakedness. However, I understand why you doubt the provenance of Shooman's tailor, especially since he named Durban in Shanghai to be his tailor but then claimed that his tailor did not want to be named. Perhaps Shooman will be kind enough to clear this up. I am (honest) going to Australia late this year (Sydney and Melbourne) and would like to visit this expensive tailor if he is in one of these cities in the nature of a pilgrimage.

Regards,

Steven

Re: Morning coat

In the case of Shooman's tailor, you obviously, get what you pay for. Does this mystical tailor also use the Durban collar?  I hope so for the prices he charges.

I am in Australia and I dont undersand Shooman's posts.  Either he is being extremely ironic to the point of being inflammatory, or he is being extreme naiive.  He is certainly an interesting character and I think he livens otherwise dull topics.

Re: Morning coat

Gracias.

I’m too new on this board to start giving my opinions as to what I think about this thread, so at least for now; I’ll keep my opinions posted on SF. But, I hope everyone thinks about how and with whom they part their money.

Jon.
