Do people dress up for Christmas where you are

They usually don't where l live. People just wear shorts, t-shirt and thongs or go shoo-less. l always dress better with nice pants, shirt and always the beautiful Moreschi loafers.

I never like Christmas because everyone has lots of drinks and a feast of sweets and meat, but l always have my raw vegan food consisting of raw grasses, sprouts, flowers, weeds, algaes and sea weeds.

They tend to throw their clothes off and leap into the sea.

London Town ... 3 sartorial groups predominantly;

1) Work suit worn straight out of the office

2) Service as usual jeans & shirt crowd with some type of jacket / over coat straight on top which is promptly disposed of in the cloakroom

3) Make an effort crowd .. velvet jacket with jeans/dark trouser (no tie / bow usually) or a Cheap Tux (I use the word tux deliberately here as they probably do too).

It would not be well received in Wetherspoons.

They probably do. Not the lone person I will likely encounter on Christmas, though. Convenience store clerks are not the most stylish people in general.

Re: Do people dress up for Christmas where you are

For Xmas, my wife, her son and I visited her brother, who was hosting a family gathering in the High Desert. It was unseasonably hot weather. I had planned to wear my corduroy critter pants and a tweed jacket but shelved it because of the heat and wore a lightweight wool Black Watch blazer (H&S Snowy River fabric), a Mercer broadcloth shirt, some gray wool slacks and A-E Lexingtons in black. Our host--a very nice guy and a member of the Preppie Nation but no sartorial icon--was wearing a T-shirt and shorts. Most of the family were similarly attired. Need I say more?

In Norway, one is expected to wear trousers and a shirt at the least for dinner on xmas. This year I wore grey flannel trousers,  an unstructured charcoal grey with wine windowpane wool sports jacket, wine wool knit tie, white spread collar shirt and grey socks with grey slippers(wearing shoes in someones home is very poor manners here). Forgetting that Mrs. Welts grandmother would be present which meant the heating was full on. Being a gentleman I didn't remove my jacket and remained a perfect host, despite the heat. Next year I'm wearing linen.

Wearing right now for my office party hosted in our house: Dark Gray flannel pants, white herringbone cufflink shirt, Red Cardigan long sleeve sweater a la Bing Crosby, and black suede shoes. The obligatory whiskey on my left hand. Now if I could only find my pipe...
