Marks and Spencer sale

Now on.

The expensive 'Best of British' stuff is being knocked out at reasonable prices.

Just got a pair of veldtschoen boots for £135.

Re: Marks and Spencer sale

That's a tremendous price for an English made shoe, if the quality is there.

I must say, the M&S building in the Hague is coming on rather well, it should be opening in a few weeks. They should do well off the expats in this town. Meanwhile, it's main competitor, the Bijenkof is attempting to reinvent itself as the Havey Nichols of the Netherlands, they've certainly not scrimped on the christmas decorations and window displays this year.

Re: Marks and Spencer sale

ive been looking at M&S trousers .. they have a fondness for polyester & viscose trousers in their regular 'M&S man range'. Any one tried these out?

this is really getting down to earth .. with a bespoke jacket its bridging two worlds.

I must say, I am impressed on the boot/shoe front, it seems like only yesterday, that M&S shoes were notable for their intentionally grey visage, cheap Gucci fake slips ons and assorted plastic gold buckles.

Re: Marks and Spencer sale

no mum used to take me to the Harvey Nicholls boys clothing section .. remember a nice female staff member along with my mum yanking up prospective trousers to see if they fit properly smile

those were the days .. & where I like to think I started to develop a sense of style lol

Re: Marks and Spencer sale

The sales, for women at least have started early in the Hague store and I was with the missus in a couple of department stores so checked out the shirt quality.

Against Thomas Pink, Eton, Van Gils, Profuomo, Calvin Klein et al, the M&S Savile Row Inspired/Ashton Lord Collection with a limited range in light blue and white have the best cloth, good fit and value for money at €59.95 a pop. The other shirt makes were between €99-€135 for what was definitely inferior rustic feeling cloths IMCO.

Thomas Pink had the widest range of choice in colours and patterns, but the quality seemed just okay to me.

So you can't really knock the value of these shirts by M&S, okay the link to the Ashton mill in Manchester is tenuous for Italian mill sourced cloth. But no different to the Albini Group's Thomas Mason shirt fabrics which plays on its' English credentials whilst being made in Italy now.
