Favourite style period growing up?

For me it was without a doubt the 1970's. Loved the daggy styles. The aviator glasses, the flares, the high heeled shoes, the tight shirts with big colars, the brown suits. Loved it all and always will. What about you guys?

The 1980's was sh*thouse, especially the hair styles. Puke worthy.

Infact I'd still wear any of that today, apart from the Farahs and haircut.

Re: Favourite style period growing up?

Most definitely the decade that was The Jazz Age, that straddled the 1920s and 30s, and also the swing period that takes us up to the end of WWII. I was always attracted to those old movies of Fred Astaire, there was something strangely intoxicating about the sophistication in the dancing and of course the road movies of Bing Crosby and Bob Hope. Somehow, I always imagined exotic travel, nightclubs and broads would be in my future. Even as kid, I knew this was different to my peers, as everyone would be turned off by B&W films, whilst I knew it was the sign of some good stuff about to begin.

I grew-up in the 70s and my formative years in the 80s, and there was nothing more damaging to one's street cred, then to be wearing fly-away collars or bell-bottoms in the 80s. The 70s were frowned upon as the decade of embarrassing fashion. I think the 80s was the last golden age of fashion led consumerism, also in other areas: pop music and pop art too. It was all over after this.

Growing up. I'm not sure when that is. When does one stop growing up. In general there's been great stuff in the fashions in mostberas that can look great. Perhaps the 70s were the most fun for experimenting.
