Haven't got time to read this at the moment, but l was under the impression that Americans are huge men and don't need to get taller, where-as the Europeans are smaller blokes. I've rarely met any Americans so l could be wrong, but reading the clothing forums gives me this impression, and size does seem to count.
To Americans....if you aren't BIG you are a no-body...is this true?

short version:
Dutch have been the tallest men and women for along time until recently - now we've caught up. The tallest nations are Australia and Dutch men and women. Americans have bigger thighs, bigger tummies, heavier weight etc but are not taller.
Apparently all the 6'5" teenage boys I see all the time didn't get the memo.
^ The latest stats do show younger Americans getting taller. 20-25 average 1/2" taller than general pop.
Interesting read though fxh, thanks for that.

There's prett5y good data on height throughout history as most armed forces at least back to Napoleon have kept records of the height of thousands of men. Police forces too
The Dutch are relative giants on the basis of only drinking sour milk and eating cold lunches of old cheese that has the consistency of plastic and a half boiled egg thrown in for good measure. I am 6'2", so the land of the giants suits my stature. I agree with everything in the article relating to tall people being earning super duper money, getting promotion before the vertically challenged and going out on hot dates with chorus girls.
However, the down size, is tall people tend to die earlier.
I'm 6ft 4, and I mainly ate good quality meat through my childhood due to my Grandfather being a butcher. It does appear iodine is very important, soil lacking in iodine does make for shorter population from what I've read.
^I'll drink to that! Cheers!
