Specifically Foster & Son and Cleverley. Has anyone had any experience with either or know someone who has?
^ Damn you.
On a related note, WTF is up with those gunboats he gets? Doesn't he know ho ridiculous it looks on a 4 foot tall midget?
Very much a plain oxford, maybe a little brouging. My love is the JLP 7000 last, but I am not paying that much money, and I don't go to Paris ever. The Foster stuff looks a little more in line with my tastes, but I enjoy the Cleverley RTW's I have. G&G and Lobb UK are right out.
I like a chunkier look. Not gunboat or old Lobb, but not as elongated as G&G. Not very descriptive I realize, but I have it pretty well envisioned in my head. I'm sure they could do it, but I figure go to someone that tends that way anyway.
This isn't some gotta have thing mind you, I'm just curious. I still think the prices are crazy. It's more about being interested in the craft and process than feeling like the particular shoes are worth such an absurd amount.
^ Exactly. He acutally invents "wrongs" just so he can talk about it on the internet.
I quickly looked at the shoes, they look good. But the big test is what they look like on the feet...l am particularly interested in how they fit on the instep...is the lacing V area even on each side and to the correct opening??? I ask this because A Portney's were a disaster in this area with very wide uneven V openings around the lacing area, it has given me cause for worry with my pair so l will be very clear at the fitting to get it right.
^ He will find an issue no matter what.
