I see thats written by a chap from Mr. Porter. I wonder if the penny is finally dropping with contemporary menswear people?
Yawn....
''Cary Grant, Cary Grant, Cary Grant - everybody wants to be Cary Grant. Even I want to be Cary Grant.''

Indeed, even Cary Grant wanted to be Cary Grant!
Roger O Thornhill is Joe Bloggs, caught up accidentally in international espionage. The story is about how Mr Bloggs copes with his situation. Mr Bloggs wears the kind of suit that Mr Bloggs would have worn. I have never understood all the fuss and fascination; glitz and glamour that this very, very ordinary suits generates. It is just about THE apex of that 'Golden Age', from which everything else must decline.
^ Because most people have no idea how to look good (through obvious comfort and sense of self) in an ordinary suit anymore.
Re the gent ^ : If you look at his footwork, the left (leading) foot has crossed over the pace line of the right foot. The only people who walk like this are female runway models because it gives a very characteristic swing to the hips. Even male models don't walk that way. It's either that or given the close proximity of his left hell to the wall, his happy feet have a mind of their own and are beelining into the wall, a fact the poor chap does not seem to be aware of yet. To avoid collision between the right foot and the wall as the right foot swings forward and around the left foot will take a very light and deft touch, possibly with unscheduled elevations of the knee, which his preoccupied demeanor seems unlikely to carry off. Quite unexpectedly I am enthralled by the eventual denouement of this otherwise silly man's picture.
Beware of the faux pas...

I'm not giving that guy the benefit of maybe having had a few. Maybe if he was dressed otherwise, or didn't have his hands shoved in his pockets like that. It's totally affected.
I award you no points, and may god have mercy on your soul.

WTF, its even worse than I could have possibly imagined :
"JD in a special pair of bespoke Ambrosi Trousers. This model is called the “marina” and is immediately recognizable by its waistband treatment. Reminiscent of old Navy uniform trousers, it’s cut without a fly or pockets and made in a heavy cream flannel as opposed to the more traditional navy wool or off-white duck canvas."
