That whole ordeal with the German website just soured me on Vass' business practices. Plus those shoes are bulbous.
Just stumbled onto this. This is a riot. Has anyone tried these shoes recently?
I bought my first pair of Vass shoes at the BG Christmas sale, and I love'em. Great construction and a pretty good deal at the $600 I paid for my Old English shoes (1/2 leather-suede combo). I would definitely buy again at the sub-$800 price
Panzer
I inspected some Vass shoes recently and they come across as high grade but definitely "foreign". I notice they are not going to be at the pagliacci show and tell. This Girling guy does not seem to be the one who makes the shoes. Will they be taking orders for the ready wear shoes? I just got my invitation and I wonder if it is worthwhile? I really wanted to see the custom grade footwear.
The G&G schedule is posted on A Suitable Wardrobe.
A nice little trip report on Vass shoes:

^ they all ended up on ebay. There's a thread somewhere about them. They're great shoes. I can't agree with ol' FNB that they are meant for peasantry. Matter of fact that statement made no sense to me whatsoever. Peasants generally make in a many weeks or months what it costs for a pair. So...erm...yeah, like I said, nice shoes. I suppose they didn't sell well here because Americans tend to need to wrap themselves in the warm, comfy blanket of familiarity that is overpriced Italian and English shoes (they're not all overpriced, just a lot of them). Anyway.
Why hasn't Vass had their online shoe catelogue running for nearly 1 year? lt's pathetic.

That's the web site of the U.S. distributor. The Vass site is http://www.vass-cipo.hu.
Have a pair of Vass monkstraps, chocolate brown, size 11, never worn, if anyone wants to take them off my hands at a good price. PM me, if interested.
