Re: British portraits

I like number 8 - the Yorkshireman smoking a cigarette and holding a shopping bag.

No trendy grandad he. Collar and tie and a wary expression. A chunky cardigan worn underneath the jacket would improve the look and he is an old school wiry type who could carry it off.

Re: British portraits

Number 13 is interesting. Irish guards officer? Shoes and beard say probably not.

^Well, that in itself is an art, it's not only about capturing the decisive moment with your trusty Leica, its about having the courage and personality to intrude upon someone's reality and make them act normal and not contrived. That, IMCO, is probably as much of the photographer's art as the technical side of it.

A British portrait of sorts:

some sort of banal legitimacy

Yeah I always thought it looked a bit jockish. Apparently Sol Campbell mentions in a recent interview he was called gay by other team members because he played chess.

Oh Woof... do me a favor.  Get chatty with the receptionist and get that guy's details.  You know, name, address.  Actually, just address will do.  I've got a solid description.  I'll have him eating those new pearly whites in no time.
