Languishing in the back of my wardrobe – an 80's C&A blazer, replete with maritime gold buttons in a 6x1 keystone stance and 'aircraft carrier' shoulders.
Still a nice jacket; lovely deep red lining and very well made. Fits great, although the proportions are such that it imparts a rather bulldoggish look (i.e. I look like a 5'5" 9 stone quarterback).
In this age of pared-down-to-the-bone-skinny blazers and natural shoulders, should a jacket like this best be left to age disgracefully where it is?
What do you think, style warriors?
Do not be afraid to be unkind if necessary…
I had a 1985 navy double-breasted flannel blazer from Charvet (six button; two to button). Although it had patch pockets (good), it also had the built-up shoulders and a lower gorge (both bad). I did not disagree with my wife when she donated it to charity. If you're going to keep a 25-year-old item, the styling should not betray the era when it was made.
Regards,
Steven

I'd be less worried about the 6x1 configuration than the highly padded shoulders. It may be salvagable but if it looks like I imagine, it 'd need shoulder surgery.
Wear the blazer proudly.
Some will think you look odd, others with think you are being 80s Retro.
Most will not notice at all.
