Glamour is a incomprensible world in our time. Peoples don't want be "glamorous" but "cool".
According to a radio 4 piece I was half listening to about the V&A exhibition on Italian style,
1. Italy offered a lighter weight clothing more suitable to much of Johnny Foreigner's climate than what Britain was offering at the time.
2. Italian designers got their marketing together in a way Brits never managed or attempted.
3. There was a blip in the Swinging Sixties when London was cool but it was never capitalised upon.
Ya cool Italey eveen the homeless dress in real handmade Kiton
Kingston, can you point me to a podcast of that program? The BBC often blocks video stuff outside of UK
I worry about the Beeb at times, what better way to project Britains mission of educating the world than through the soft power of unfettered access to the BBC.

True enough, and yet every time i go to NYC to visit my daughter I think maybe this time I will call FNB and invite him for a drink at the Yale club.
That would be fantastic. Like spotting a unicorn.
