The aide to the French president had 30 pairs of top bespoke shoes in his collection and had a taste for extravegant things.

I can just see it now. The Judge asks "why didn't you pay the fine?" I say "because l have a bespoke shoe addiction to finance". The Judge says "why, how much do these shoes cost?" I say "they often start at 5K and can easily climb to over 10K". The Judge says "whattt???...who the heck pays 5K for shoes???" as he falls off his chair. LOL.

And yeah, l better wear sneakers just in case l get chucked in the clink. Just imagine being in the lock-up wearing John Lobb among the sneaker wearing masses. Actually, if they chucked me in the clink l would seek special permission to wear bespoke shoes with my orange jumpsuit. I would become a model prisoner and seek shoo privileges and also save my prison wages for a bespoke John Lobb Paris colection (would get my first pair after 35 years of saving).

Moral of the story = some men love their highend shoes.

shooey - if you get shoved in the can it will be a great opportunity to learn and practice shoemaking. Years with nothing else to do. I'll bring in leather and lasts and books.

You would have to go for the black, but I think a reasonable price, considering the shoe trees are included and decent ceder shoe trees in the town I live in are 80 Euros a pop!

What is 'thirty pairs of bespoke shoes' after all? No more than a modest holiday cottage or a fairly mediocre sports car.

Obviously a slap in the face for those of us who might have to work for weeks on end to afford such a collection, but it just has to be put in context.

The problem with our mediocre political class, is that 30 pairs of bespoke shoes reveals how distant they are from the masses and the herd. Particularly, from the champagne socialists whose mission has always been to govern the poor huddled masses from above with a ruling intelligensia. It says all we need to know about this chap.

Of course, there is nothing inherently wrong with owning 30 pairs of bespoke shoes, but in the context of socialist left wing politicos it is obscene.
