iivy accessories
good day gentlemen! this is my first post upon visiting the forum. i've read most of the threads that interested me the past days and they have been indeed very informative. anyways the reason i am posting here is because you guys seem to understand ivy well and i am on somewhat on a gift hunt for my father. he was a youth when the ivy boom in the 80's hit and still wears weejuns and tassel loafers. i would like to get him some ivy accessories perhaps like a wallet, key chain, some sort of bag/briefcase, or whatever. i'm hoping for other ideas aside from the very gentlemanly english accessories as he is a doctor and dresses very casually. thanks!

Actually my comment above is actually very clever actually (or so I have been told by PM)...
A Proctoscope is a very handy thing for a doctor especially on a men's forum where awareness of colon & prostate cancer can never be too high.
AND!
Kelly Green as a colour comes to us from WASP GTH style via 80's Preppy to modern day "Trad". The Ivy League spectrum of colours was/is far more subdued.

Kelly green is a great color. Brooks did a fantastic casual trou of this color. Cable Car CLothiers currently has an exact shade of this trouser on offer in a poplin. Displayed with countless others, in the old school type of rack.

As for Ivy accessories, a lot of the great ones that I've liked (the regimental wallets for coat pockets, etc) seem to have been discontinued at Brooks. Maybe available elsewhere. But the sterling Brooks belt buckle is still available. Not in the catalog or online that I could see. But at 346 Madison. That' s a nice accessory that you could have a monogram put on. Cost is about $135 or so.
Also, old school tie-back boxers, monogrammed. Though whether one man should get another boxers is another matter.

Most Ivy accessories would be kinda Anglo tho' wouldn't they?
Just thinking of all those lovely Brooksy leather goods...
The grosgrain stuff is more US than English I think, even though it references old English Regimentals - you just don't see it that often over here.
How about a nice hip flask for ito's pop?

cheers gentlemen for all the great replies. i believe there aren't really that many ivy accessories as i've suspected and as mention by jack, they all seem to be anglo inspired. i may get him a custom braided wallet and the lovely knit ties from press.

I'm very fond of braided belts but am told that they are a cliche by an American chum who shops for me in the US from time to time but thinks I have no taste in clothes at all.
Am I de trop in a woven (braided) leather belt?

Back in the day shoes made in Northamptonshire to American specs & sent to the States were then imported back into the UK to be sold at The Ivy Shop. Crazy, eh?

What Ho, Chum?
The braided belt seems to have had a spurt of popularity (that is, many more "mainstream" stores offered a version of it) during the last 20 years. I don't know what it's larger sartorial history is, but I've eschewed the look, with one exception in school. Howard's reference looks like a good one.

I love them in a good Cordo colour or a nice dark Brown. They look very nasty in Black.
They're a casual item, but I quite like them with Tweeds/Blazers.
