Damn entertaining viewing!! BOOM!!
Shows the dangers quite well, when oxygen cylinders explode, someone generally gets burnt to death.
BLEVE - boiling liquid evaporated vapour explosion. Mine's bigger than yours....

OK Woof, I'll see your Bleve and raise it with:

That test they got a lot of information about nuclear winter from, the cloud from the detonation went around the world a couple of times. That cold war was hot!
I like this explosion from the show Mythbusters, which I used to watch religiously. Kari Byron's cute. Exploding cement truck: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gxm_qpKh7Jw
Judging by their reactions, even they weren't expecting it to be so violent.
Excellent stuff WM, that's one of my favourite episodes of Mythbusters.
My other fave is the 'do mobile phones or static electricity cause gas station forecourt fires',
can't find the footage on youTube but it's a corker.

Fire, explosions, destruction... all endlessly mesmerizing. I remember taking all the model planes I'd built as a child out in the yard and blowing them to smithereens with fire crackers. I imagined they were on a field and I was an enemy plane on a strafing run. It was serious fun. But now I wish I still had the models.
That's why I love watching live videos of the Who when they were in their destructive prime. I love those old instruments, but I can't avert my eyes and help but get all excited to see Keith Moon upend his drums and Pete slice his guitar speakers with his axe.
It's painful to watch any of that stuff get smashed, but impossible to avert your eyes.

/\
The fact that 170 people or so apparently died in the Chinese explosion slightly dampened my enthusiasm for it. (I still searched for other videos of it, however.)
I've heard two gas explosions in my life. You don't forget them.
I suspect if you're directly involved in one as your life's grand finale you probably don't even get to hear the bang.
