I would be the first to admit that my knowledge of history is not the greatest, but has there ever been a time in the last 1000 years when people in the Middle East haven't been hard at work killing each other?
You would have to go back to nearly 2000 years ago under pax romana.
Although the Persians (Iran) were outside of this for the most part.
And don't forget the partitioning after WWI which really should have been done at local tribal level, which of course, we are to blame for. Then there's the lack of diversity and multi-culturalism and increasing Islamohphobia in the Western countries that needs to be sorted out once and for all, or there will be trouble......hmmmm......

Elie Kedourie was very critical of the British Empire role in the middle-east especially T.E Lawrence and his/their encouragement of Arab nationalism to foment the collapse of the Ottoman empire.
...and speaking of which...

Pathological liar or a classic case of cognitive dissonance? Please feel free to add your own diagnoses.
Indeed, there was an abundance of linen on display, must have been anticipating a heated debate.
Myriam is likely to take the place of Mo Ansar as the Beeb's chosen voice as the new sassy muslim commentator and community activist. The fact that she is convert, quite bonkers and represents no one means she is ideal.
I noticed Blair didn't look too comfortable being interviewed on Sky News yesterday, especially when he was accussed of having a messiah complex. Now this morning everyone in the Labour party is doing back-flip somersaults to disown him. The Chilcot Inquiry may yet have some bite in it. The future looks grim for Toxic Tony.
As an adjunct to this - just started watching 'The unknown known' from Sky Atlantic last week- a film about Donald Rumsfeld . Very interesting indeed - the bit I've watched so far covers a lot of what is in Thomas E. Ricks brilliant book 'Fiasco'. Probably not on the guest list for my 50th Birthday bash - but Don is wearing a very nice blue button down ...... so he can't be all bad

Good to see the MSM starting to wake-up to the jihadi horror in our midst: courted, nurtured and in many cases financed by our government's largesse, an entirely self-inflicted wound that the West is going to have to fight for generations to eradicate. How those politicians and media shrills who promoted multiculturalism and diversity, now find themselves on the wrong side of history.
Meanwhile, the trial of Tony Blair continues, an excellent piece in last Sunday's Scottish Herald:

His people are already out rubbishing the claim, but it cannot hurt to add your name, even if he does try to front it out.
I hear that Galloway is behind that petition, so I won't be signing it, but by jury of his peers i.e. MP's and former ambassadors to the Middle East, it does appear, as if anyone needing convincing, he is unfit for active duty. He may yet prove the one weak link, the one who eventually does time for his actions......

Whilst you're all in the signing petition mood, please take time out to sign the reinstate Hank Willams to the Grand Ole Opry petition:

If he could see all the crap acts they allow to perform there now, he'd probably just shrug and say, "aww, ta hell with it."
