I have seen worse dressed writers but better dressed men.

Re: William Burroughs.

He was apparently often mistaken for a narc.  A friend of mine spent time with him.  B. would go into that "machine" of his.  You know the one, I'm sure.  I won't post the details here.  We're all gentlemen, natch.

Re: William Burroughs.

Incidentally I saw this film the other day : http://imdb.com/title/tt0211941/

Also, I recently read "On the road" for the first time in my life which took me quite a long time to finish, so not overly impressed I was. One of those classics you just have to read I suppose though. I can see the appeal it must have had back in the day and I have to say I liked the atmosphere ( re-Jazz ), more than what the book actually stands for if you see what I mean. Reminds me too much of hippies for some reason, their attitude being very much alien to me of course.

Having said that I know some of those people, ex-hippies that is, from my hometown that are truly likeable, but such is life......innit ? ;-)

Re: William Burroughs.

You must be honest/To live outside the law

I lived in Lawrence KS for a few years and became acquainted and recorded some music with his assistant/manservant/Igor (a creep, actually).

Used to see Mr. Burroughs around occasionally--a truly eerie, spectral presence, always in a suit and hat.
