Very talented guy Williams, It doesn't surprise that he was a depressive with all the manic energy. Both blessed and cursed.

He was a great Popeye. And while brilliant in comedic roles, I really enjoyed his dramatic roles in Dead Poets Society and Awakenings.

Re: Robin Williams RIP

He had the unique ability to convey a heartbreaking message in a hilarious manner. Good Morning Vietnam is one of my top three favorite movies. An absolutely brutal and depressing situation, and he made you feel that all the while laughing so hard you'd piss yourself.

His stand up was easily top three all time as well.

And he rarely failed to entertain in interviews.

Re: Robin Williams RIP

Comedians are often depressives and the gag cracking is a counter balance to the dire side of their personalities. The expectation that you will constantly be funny and entertaining must bring its own pressures. They have fragile egos as well. I remember being at a lunch table with Lenny Henry and everyone time anyone else made a witty remark he pulled a face and said 'oh de jokes, de jokes'. It was like he was the only one who was allowed to be amusing.

Re: Robin Williams RIP

Not sure who I feel the most sorry for - Robin Williams family - or the two unfortunate posters who've spent time with the comedy free zone that is Lenny Henry.
