Why would you want the maid to call you something other than Dudley? I mean, besides the fact it's just a sockpuppet.

Re: Brummell and beyond...

Carnaby Street was the birth of teenage fashion, the start of the end for the Mods. It merely sold what kids wanted, before telling kids what they wanted. A 1963 Mod was very different to a 58 Mod. Once fashion got a grip and the kids weren't scared to wear colour, it really got out of hand. Fashions came in and went out in weeks, not months. The only other sub culture that has come close was the casual fashions of the early 80s. The Mods were very much of their time, a mix of American, European and gay influences that embraced consumerism.

^ Now this is right in my wheelhouse formby.

I see it also brings the rich taking the poor clothes angle a bit too. I'm still not on board with that bit.

That Sykes wasn't related to the Sykes of Sykes-Pincot fame was he?

Ha. Not surprised. You have to be idle rich to have that kind of free time.

I'm surprised Dud hasn't chimed in.

I'm wondering how Chris Gibbs managed. A monocle at college is hugely risky. Violence could ensue.
