Varying accounts of quality, but it might be just my speed.  Though those Sugarcanes looks awfully nice too.

Re: On Jeans...

Looking for a cheap pair of jeans for the cool weather, I saw raw denim jeans at H & M yesterday. Seemed pretty good and robust for (I think) EUR 30.
If they have them in the requisite shortass size I'll get a pair and report...

Sta-Prest cords.

This site also has a pretty decent collection of other Levis gear, including the 1947 jean.  Not sure if the prices are reasonable or not, but they don't seem terribly, terribly off, considering.

Re: On Jeans...

Andy Warhol's manager, Fred Hughes, used to wear tailored suit jackets with crisply pressed blue jeans.

Maybe that's where Warhol got his inspiration.

Re: On Jeans...

Lots of interesting stuff on that site, including these two classics.

It's a pity these are sold out.

Re: On Jeans...

Style macher Tim Gunn wears jeans from JCrew.  I checked them out and the vintage slim and bootcut jeans seem perfectly acceptable, if not by the denim cognoschenti.

Re: On Jeans...

Not really sure on the construction.  I know that Kabbaz has some complaints about high end jean construction, but take that for what it is.  I can't imagine any jean falling apart at the seams, but the difference in price vs. a pair of J Crew jeans is disconcerting as no denim is that expensive.

Re: On Jeans...

I met the one and only Tokyo Slim yesterday and accompanied him on a jeans-buying excursion to Uniqlo in Ginza. It was a quick education in decent, cheap denim.

Re: On Jeans...

Chums,

the ol' 5 pocket cord is back.  Or at least recreated by ol' Bill.  I wonder how they are?

He's also making denim jeans, but these don't look very appealing I must say.
