I too like Duds contributions, though I suspect I merely annoy him.
That's Larkin's charm, he was a miserable moldy fig poet and university librarian in digs in Hull, so that we never had to go down that road. In fact, for a very short time, I did take lodgings in Hull and soon after fled to Beverley. So he was obviously built of sterner stuff than me.
