Re: Ivy Rise Jeans ?

Which are the good ones? Just had a quick look on the 'Bay and there seem to be about five different cuts under the name Brooklyn. Most of the regulars are labelled 'stretch denim' too.

Re: Ivy Rise Jeans ?

i was able to find a pair of deadstock (well, new without tags anyway), orange tab, made in the usa levi 519s.  cost about 40 bucks   no selvedge or anything like that but also not the rebranded euro 519s.   very much similar fit to the bedford cords or those 70s 80s 519 cords.    nice thick denim, the rise is high and they taper nicely.   I snagged my true to size, 36 x 33 (I'm 6'4) and the leg opening tapers to just a touch over 8 inches (maybe 8 and an 1/8?).    very much worth it.   and I actually prefer the non selvage thing because I kinda irrationally think its tacky when I see someone with selvedge because it the year 2014 it just kinda screams "HEEEEEY I SPENT 200 DOLLARS ON JEANS" but thats just me.

Re: Ivy Rise Jeans ?

I increasingly wear jeans to the office. For the last few years I have worn Levis Vintage 1954 501's. (As well as the Orslow 107 Ivy cut)

Great rise, zip fly and the good fabric weight. I think at some point the production moved to Turkey.

It now appears that there are two options available. A 501 '54 in the regular range and a LVC 1954 that's now made in Japan.

As you'd expect there's a significant price differential between the two and I can't vouch for the similarities in cut but it might be something worth investigating.

Re: Ivy Rise Jeans ?

Bought the Japanese 1954 and the '37 with the cinch back last year. Had the '37 taken in on the legs. Only worn the '54 once, but the '37 quite a bit with Incontinence pants Spezial's. Sometimes worn to work, but mainly around the house or to a couple of concerts. Think I'm always going to be a chino guy in the main. Certainly, jeans are out in the summer.

Went up 2 sizes and right I was. Did a cold wash with the '37 after about 6 months and did an additional 30C quick wash at the start of the year and they've shrunk big time.

The chaps over on Dressedwell had a real downer on Levi vintage denim as not being Japanese and authentic enough for them.

Here you can only get online. The LVC stuff isn't in any of the stores. And sizes go out of stock quick, only to be restocked several months down the line.

When it comes to denim, RRL chore jackets aside, you need to go to the original source and LVC ticks all the boxes.

Re: Ivy Rise Jeans ?

Where did that ''....Incontinence pants...'' come from? I certainly did not write that!
