Are The Italian Fashion Houses Moribund?

Compared to Paris, London and New York, the conclusion from The Independent is that it is indeed so:

Have to agree that when it comes to Prada's takeover of Church shoes, it has not been an ideal marriage, then you have the ink-jet printed tie scandal casting a dark shadow over the maestro's of old Napoli. Then that look, you know the one, not the Prada-boy one, the other Italian fashion afflication of too short jackets and trousers, generally worn a size too small, that have become a stereotype of menswear shops and "tailors" plugging the Italian-look.

Italian fashion is stuck in its own years of lead!

Re: Are The Italian Fashion Houses Moribund?

Is probably that Italian fashion houses are in crisis....but who care?
Is only expensive crap.
Classic shops are well alive ("Principe" in Florence,"Al Duca d'Aosta" in Venice,"Bardelli" in Milan,"Pesce" in Genova, "Barttistoni" and "Cenci" in Rome,"Cilento" in Naples,"Albanese" in Catania,"Dell'Oglio" in Palermo, and many others jewels in many others cities.
Zegna,Loro Piana,Stefano Ricci have MTM at top.
More are still many excellent  tailor shops in several cities.

Italian design, across the board, has been suffering for quite some time...

My colleague's brother has used that tailor's in Arezzo, they have a workshop in Marciano della Chiano and the results are supposedly very good. I will check them out next time I visit.
