Blue suit, brown stripe

I almost bought a Brioni suit I looked at during lunch which has a caramel or orangey brown chalkstripe on dark blue. The stripe is not too strong or faded. It's burning holes in my pocket. I wanted to ask what the effect a suit like this would make in the greater tri state area? Admittedly, the suit is some half off which might suggest no one wanted it but it looks different. I have not seen this combination before, is this a color violation? Would it be better to spend full price on a white or gray stripe?

Re: Blue suit, brown stripe

I have decided to get the suit. For the price asked, I can wear it for special occasions. Not that I have a lot of those.

Re: Blue suit, brown stripe

I can't imagine wearing a blue suit w/brown stripe, but I've seen other things on here that I wouldn't have imagined, that really ended up looking good.

edit:  now that I think about it, I remember a guy who used to wear brown ties (plain silk) with a grey suit or blue suit.  I think with a grey suit, I'd like to see a brown knit tie, square end.  Esp. if that suit were light grey worsted or even flannel.  I wonder if brown suede cap toes would be too much.  Or another brown shoe.  I could almost see black working too.

Re: Blue suit, brown stripe

This combination sounds rotten.
