It can get complicated Mike.
To be chuffed - generally to be quite pleased with things-interchangeable with happy or smug.
but as with many British word there is an alternative that can become complicated.
Chuff for example can mean- to break wind-
in the male sense of the word , chuff can refer to the backside.(he deserves a kick in the chuff)
In the female sense it would refer to a vagina-( I gave her a kiss on the chuff)
it is also interchangable with Fuck, fucking and fuckers ( what the chuff is going on?- the other forum is chuffing ridiculous- they are a set of chuffers)
I used the word in the sense of feeling pleased with myself.
( tomorrow new meanings to the word Fanny in the English/American - dictionary)
