Maybe (like the Blazer in England) the Cardigan is a wardrobe staple that needs to be reclaimed by wearing it Get Smart style?
It needs taking away from all the wrong associations?

I've had good luck with JJ Hat Center too.  Um, feel free to use my name, but expect to be shown to the door.

Also -- Lock and Cable Car.  It's more difficult now to find a properly sized (in numeric sizing) hat.  But please insist on it.

I've an old Burberry knit tie that mixes Alpaca with lambswool...
Alpaca cardigans were big too way back when, weren't they?

I'd forgotten about Vicuna...

Is Camelhair still real Camel hair?

Re: Where do you see Cardigans in the scheme of things?

I've owned two burgundy cashmere sweaters during my lifetime. The first was from some shop in the Burlington Arcade. 4 ply. very luxe. I think it cost all of 40 bucks back in 1976. 10 or more years ago I bought a replacement. I think it's by Ballentyne. Maybe $200 on sale. 2 ply I think, still feels nice.  still have it. One of the few sweaters that survived a disastrous moth infested oriental rug purchase.  It may have been baggy when bought. It no longer is. Something to keep in mind for long term value shoppers.
Oh and Brooks is featuring cardigans this season for some reason.

Oh and for what it is worth. I was inspired to look at the Brooks sale section for sweaters. They have an only slightly odd camle hair cardigan, together with a truly fine cashmere argyle V-neck. half price. many sizes. just sayin.

I've had my eye on that Brooks cardigan--not sure if I really like the contrast piping, or hate it.

I'm leaning toward "really like."
