Most likely. The French don't have the best rack record of effectively managing their navy anyhow.
The French have never forgiven the English over Mers-el-Kebir.
In my view the RN was right to sink them, given the circumstances.

My apologies for the 'poor article' - didn't actually read it myself - just linked it to give some historical perspective and wanted to dazzle you with my knowledge .... Totally agree with you, given the circumstances , it was entirely the right move.
