He was grasping at straws in his execution of intent, but actually, I do notice that Longines have some interesting wafer watches at present. A bit too formal for my liking, but I can see a return of the wafer watch, even cutting against the grain of the decline of formal dress codes.

Even the Hamilton range that are homages to their back catalogue from the 50s and 60s are oversized.
There's still a number of watch makers with ranges in the classic circa 36mm size, you just have to dig deep to find them.
My next watch, once I've off-loaded a few chunky beasts, will likely be one the Ole Mathiesen's - wafer thin, casual and smart.
