I will be getting this too, but one thing that slightly annoys me, is the fetish of Blue Note at the expense of other equally well documented and recorded jazz labels, particularly Pacific Jazz which is acknowledged as being equally and some consider better recorded than Blue Note. This shouldn't distract from the greatness of Blue Note, but sometimes I wish Prestige or even Verve had the same kudos amongst non-jazz aficionados.
I completely agree. Heck, even add Impulse! to the list.
The German SABA and MPS labels are also as good as any Stateside but not greatly documented....
