Interestingly this tonal entrapment almost mimics the idea of entrapmemts in music, mainly bebop jazz. Where the player plays the notes either side of the note they're moving towards. I think this works because you reference either side of where things are headed then you hit the spot in the middle and the ear or eye is rewarded with that logic.
