Thursday wardrobe; dark brown Clarks walking shoes, maroon socks, ancient washed-out khakis, brown belt, pale blue-grey BD, brown w/blue ancient madder tie, grey zip-neck lambswool sweater with stand-up collar and Zegna faux-tweed sports jacket (brown w. a blue-grey windowpane). Just the kind of get-up I used to be embarrassed to be seen with my father wearing. I'm sure there's a word for it…
Why? It's a dull cool autumn day, and I felt like cracking out the ancient madder again.
All clothing is old stuff today: brown Bass pennys, Brooks khakis, brown dress belt, Arrow red and white stripe oxford cloth shirt (was grand dads) and Brooks end on end tiebacks. Why, well I gotta go to work sometime.
Do you put your overalls on when you get there?
This evening I have on a well used and worn pair of hiking boots-some old 5 pocket cord jeans ( beige) nice rip in the knee area -and an old frayed collared rugby shirt-a kind of Maroon colour with a white collar
I smell of smoke because I have been having a bonfire at the end of the garden- the brazier kind - you know- the old metal dustbin with holes punched in the sides -rest the bottom - on three bricks to allow cross flow of ventilation and let the fire breath and burn brightly.
I have been burning some old documentation ( also and don`t tell the missus this- some old nuddie mags that I had stashed under the bed).
Isn`t having bonfires fantastic- a real manly pursuit in a primeval way -kind of puts you in touch with the spirit of your ancestors-Don`t you think?
Gray flannel suit (3 pc, but leaving the vest at home -- too warm for it yet); blue/white micro-check with blue and reddish-brown overcheck (is this a tattersal?) shirt; burgundy grenadine tie; brown suede bluchers.
Picture day at work ...
Brown walking shoes (again, raining today), blue argyle socks, H & M dark jeans, white shirt with grandad's cufflinks, grey cardigan, plain 3-button navy blazer. Just warm comfy stuff for a rainy Friday.
grey press suit
white BB Oxford
black J. Press socks
black Brooks English captoes
blue Andover tie with gold/blue repeating flowery kind of thing.
cotton handkerchief in pocket.
refuse to wear a pocket napkin.
I'm getting really boring.
Boring- my arse.- I insert this for clarity -I don`t want you interpreting my opening comment as an insult- it`s complimentery(-like the peanuts)
I wish I had a reason to dress in such finery - each day - but alas - working from home- with the occasional soujourn to meet clients, and have "boozy" lunches- inhibits me.
Posting on forums- is working -isn`t it?
Brooks Slim Fit oxford--White
Old, old Polo 5 pocket cords--Honey Brown and somewhat slim cut
25 year old Abercrombie and Fitch brown belt
Beat to hell A/O Topsiders
Why? It's raining and I'm stuck at work editing papers.

Those 5 pocket cords in a slim cut sound good. I've got a pair of full cut wide wale RL's (old USA-make) but they're cut like M1's. A slimmer decadent narrow-wale, but unfortch with reverse pleats.
Who's making a quality tan cord trouser of a moderately slim cut (slimmer than m2 but not freakishly slim) nowadays?
Did you ever investigate the slimmer cut chinos that you were after? Did you try the old Corbin cut? (Don't know if it even exists anymore). I might have a pair to give you should you want a pair (I'd have to check).
I'm thinking of investing in a few slim fit OCBD's, Brooks USA-make.
Today...

Helped out a swing band today, so l am wearing the following:
* Dark Grey `Fletcher Jones' pants.
* White `Calibre' dress shirt.
* Bright green blazer (special one they lent me)
* Black `Jeffery West' goodyear bluchers (l love `em)
* Black vintage belt.
* Gray/red/dark-green striped company tie.
lt's a band employed by a company to represent them at offical functions and social occasions. The band also does freelance gigs. We've even had a gig at The Australia Club....most exclusive gentlemans club in Oz.
